Bob, Mom, and Me

Bambi, Bob, Mom, and Me

Welcome to my 30-second bio!

I live with my husband, Bob, and cats Boomer and Bambi, in a home overlooking the Strait of Georgia, on British Columbia’s beautiful Sunshine Coast. My sweet Mom, Fay, lives with us now too , and we’re getting to know and like each other much better than we ever did in my teenage years. (Well, most of the time.) ;-)

Right off the bat, let me tell you that I’m not a doctor and have no medical training. In fact, when they show those gory operating room scenes on House or ER, I run screaming from the room!

I do hold an honors degree in sociology from Simon Fraser University, and I guess I’ve always had a curiosity about other cultures, and other ways of doing things.

Writing and publishing have always been part of my life, too. I could read at age three and by 11, I was publishing a family newspaper.

In 1986, my sister Toni and I coauthored and self-published a cookbook called Food from the Heart … which we sold at craft fairs, giving away samples of Toni’s scrumptious Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars, to attract hungry buyers. Six years later, Toni died of a brain tumor. I miss her every day.

Happy Hysterectomy

Over the years, I’ve written a number of print books and eBooks. My most popular eBook, by far, is The Worried Woman’s Guide to a Happy Hysterectomy. Daily, I get several letters of appreciation from readers of “Happy Hyst.”

My second eBook, Saying Goodbye with Love was based on my best-selling print book of the same name.

Readers have called it “a godsend” and have told me it’s like having a knowledgeable friend beside you, to guide you through the crisis.

Dr. Bernie Siegel (famed author of Peace, Love and Medicine) called it “an excellent resource” and Reverend Richard Gilbert, of the World Pastoral Care Center, called it “a treasured friend for the bereaved.”

A Eulogy to Remember

In that book, I show readers step by step exactly what to say and do to write and deliver a eulogy to be proud of … especially if you’re upset and anxious.

The book also contains many sample eulogies for you to model, and even a fill-in-the-blanks template.

And if you, or someone you know, has lost a friend or family member, please visit my “movie” for survivors at www.ToThoseILove.com

Finally, if someone you know is having surgery other than a hysterectomy, there’s my eBook, Preparing for Surgery.

My husband, Bob, has now caught the web-building bug too and has launched more than a dozen sites, including Custom-Car-Rims.com and BabyStrollerAdvisor.com
